Crash_US30_Pioneer_StockbergerA two vehicle crash on US 30 at Pioneer Drive this morning snarled traffic for hours.

Crash_US30_Pioneer_Stockberger_1Shortly after 5 a.m. a semi traveling west on U.S. 30 rear ended a Stockburger Trucking triple axel dump truck driven by Robert Ellis of Bourbon.

Crash_US30_Pioneer_Stockberger_3Stefan Jovanovski from Washington State drove his semi into the back of the dump truck that was slowing in traffic for the automatic signal.  After impact the cab of the semi caught fire.

Crash_Us30_Pioneer_Stockberger_2The semi was carrying dehydrated potatoes and the load spilled onto the roadway.   Cleanup took hours and US 30 was down to one lane west bound.

Crash_US30_Pioneer_Stockberger_4Jovanovski was transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend.

The Plymouth Police Department was assisted at the scene by Plymouth Fire & EMS, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and State Highway.
