On Friday, June 17th, around 9:30 in the evening officers from the Starke County Sheriff’s Office responded to 8933 South Elm Street in Monterey to conduct a Welfare Check on a female who reportedly had not shown up at her place of employment. The initial caller stated that they were very concerned for her safety.
Upon arrival at the residence on Elm Street the responding officer encountered a family member of the home owner, the family member stated he had made entry and discovered 2 people deceased inside the residence. The responding officer made entry into the residence and did locate a male and female both deceased from a single gunshot wound.
Indiana State Police Crime Scene Technicians were called to the location to process the scene.
This case remains an active investigation and no further details are being release at this time until forensic autopsies are conducted on Monday June 19th.
The deceased are Clifford Foster 53 and Lynn Foster 52 years old both of Monterey.
The Starke County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Indiana State Police, Knox City Police, North Judson Police Department and Starke County Coroner’s Office.
