JackieWalorski_ObamaCareWASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Jackie Walorski (R-Ind.) Tuesday applauded President Trump for signing an executive order to undo damaging Obama-era energy regulations.

“We can be good stewards of both the environment and the economy, but the Obama administration’s excessive regulations on energy development stifled innovation, drove up costs, destroyed jobs, and held our economy back,” Congresswoman Walorski said. “President Trump’s executive order is an important step toward restoring the balance we need to grow our economy.”

BACKGROUND

Congress this year has taken action to roll back burdensome regulations and rein in the out-of-control federal bureaucracy. The House has voted to overturn more than a dozen regulations using resolutions of disapproval under the Congressional Review Act. President Trump has signed several into law, including resolutions overturning two Obama administration regulations on domestic energy production.

The House this week will consider legislation to ensure any new regulations issued by the Environmental Protection Agency are based on publicly available science. The Honest and Open New EPA Science Treatment (HONEST) Act (H.R. 1430) would give independent scientists the opportunity to evaluate and validate the scientific data and studies the EPA uses to make regulations.

Walorski represents the 2nd Congressional District of Indiana, serving as a member of the House Ways and Means Committee.
