Plymouth girls improve at East Noble

KENDALVILLE – The Plymouth girls golf team played in the East Noble Invitational at Noble Hawk in Kendallville on Saturday placing 7th with a season-best total of 411. Huntington North took the title posting a 348, largely due to a Medalist score of 74 on their squad. The NLC was well represented in the field with five schools.
Junior Olivia Waymouth parred her first three holes capped by a chip-in on number three. Senior Brittney Klotz parred two of her opening three. Sophomore Olivia Horvath parred number three and nearly number two.
Playing in her second match of the season Sophomore Brenna Large recorded two greens on the front and her first par of the season on number eight. Brenna turned in 64. Freshmen Annastasia Hutchings parred hole sevent and birdied eight, Anna turned in 55. After her amazing start, Olivia Waymouth ended a tough stretch of holes with a par on number eight. Olivia turned in 48. Olivia Horvath fought her putter on the front but turned a solid 50. Brittney Klotz carded only one double-bogey on the front and only one three-putt to turn in 43.
“I was truly impressed by Brittney’s ability to stay locked in today,” said Plymouth coach Ben Waymouth. “She started the back nine with pars on both ten and 11. She rebounded after a tough stretch with a long bomb on 16 for par and carried that momentum thru 17, also a par.”
Plymouth had career bests today from Brittney Klotz by three shots, Olivia Waymouth by one shot and Annastasia Hutchings by four shots
Brenna Large scored lower on both nines than her (initial) nine-hole round on Thursday.
Olivia Horvath was just two shots off her career-best. Like her teammates, Olivia’s front nine score was her best, to date.
