IUSB, Indiana State, Ancilla College Scholarships to PHS Students

Last Friday Plymouth High School held their annual Senior Awards Ceremony presenting more than $2 million dollars in awards and scholarships.

Mrs. Teresa Berger representing Indiana University South Bend recognized an outstanding scholarship recipient from Plymouth High School who has confirmed the intent to attend IU South Bend in the fall.

PHS_SeniorAwards2018_IUSBAiden Miller was selected through a very thorough process to receive a Herbert Presidential Scholarship at IU South Bend.  Mrs. Berger said, “Herbert Presidential scholars are high achieving students that display strong leadership skills through school and community activities.  The Herbert scholars program provides not only an academic as well as a housing scholarship but also a study abroad award and a personal laptop.”

Aiden Miller received a personalized metal to wear during his graduation ceremony. He also received the Tighten Gold Scholarship and was directly admitted to the honors program at IU South Bend.  As a participant of the program he will receive a $500 academic and a $2,000 housing scholarship. The total financial aid package is more than $45,000 over four years.

PHS_SeniorAwards2018_Indiana StateThe Indiana State University Network Scholarship was presented by Mr. Patrick Landwehr to Makenzie Quissell.  He said, “This year 19 outstanding high school seniors have been awarded the opportunity to become part of the prestigious Networks Professional Development Program in the Scott College of Business.  The Networks Program is attended to develop future leaders by offering opportunities such as corporate mentoring, paid internships, international travel, professional conferences and employment preparation.  Recipients are selected based on high academic performance, involvement in their high school and community, demonstrated leadership potential and their desire to pursue a career in business and financial services.  This four-year, full instate tuition scholarship from Indiana State and a $3,000 professional development account from the Networks Program has a total value of over $40,000 over four years.”

PHS_SeniorAwards2018_ANcillaTodd Zeltwanger the Vice President for Development at Ancilla College recognized several PHS students who received awards from the college.  The PHJC College Success Scholarship awards were presented to students with an accumulative GPA of between 2.5 and 2.99 and competitive SAT or ACT scores.  Those students honored were Alandra Sanchez, Victoria Holland and Julie Bachman.  The Rewarding Excellence Achievement Scholarships presented by PHS students with an accumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and with competitive SAT or ACT scores awarded by Ancilla College went to Diana Gomez Karen Pacheco Mendoza. Mr. Zeltwanger also presented the Academic READ Scholarship and will also be continuing their athletic career at Ancilla College: Jorge Calix in men’s soccer, Samuel Tanner in men’s soccer, Erick Zelaya in men’s soccer and Garret Tharp in men’s basketball.
