Slonaker Selected at West Township Advisory Board Member in Caucus

Cindy SlonakerThe West Township precinct committee people participated in a caucus Tuesday evening to elect a new advisory board member to replace Dennis Beville who resigned because he moved outside of the township.

There are three precinct committee people in West Township: Susan Sauer, Tammy Borggren and Donna Pontius.

Slonaker TreatDavid Holmes, Republican County Chairman told the two candidates: Gary Treat and Cindy Slonaker they each had two minutes to speak to the voters.

Treat told the precinct committee people he’s lived in West Township the majority of his life.  He serves on the Marshall County Sheriff’s Merit Board and is a fiscal conservative.  He also noted that he brings a good business background operating Treats Squire Shop for many years.

Slonaker told the voters she has lived in West Township for 26 years and works for Re/Max Oak Crest Realty.  She worked at Whitley Products before they left and is a member of the Farm Bureau Executive board.  She also noted that she participates in community service projects.

After the speeches the voters: Sauer, Borggren and Pontius cast their paper ballots and when the votes were counted Cindy Slonaker was the winner.

Slonaker will assume the West Township Advisory Board seat immediately and filled out the paper work to have her name placed on the ballot for the November election.
