Gary Man Arrested by County Police for Operating on a Controlled Substance

MugShot_Vaughn LubarskiSgt. Nicholas Laffoon with the Marshall County Police Department responded with several other officers to a complaint of an erratic driver Monday morning just before 11 east bound on US 30. 

The vehicle, a 2006 GMC pickup truck was reported as driving all over the roadway.   Locating and following the suspect vehicle for a short distance, Officer Laffoon conducted a traffic stop for unsafe lane movement.   While talking with the driver, 24 year old Vaughn Lubarski of Gary probable cause was found that he was under the influence of a controlled substance.  

Lubarski was transported to St. Joe ER in Plymouth and then lodged in the Marshall County Jail for  Operating on a Scheduled Substance.  His bond was set at $1,500.  

The Police and the ISP both assisted with the investigation.  


Listeners and readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
