Members of the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety opened bids for a water main extension and quotes for two utility trucks during Monday evening’s meeting.
The Water Department will be placing an 8 inch water main from near the west side of the hospital on State Road 17 westerly to the new senior living community, Autumn Trace that will open in the fall of this year.
The engineers estimate on the project was $187,450. Five companies bid on the project with their bids ranging from the lowest bid of $124,502.40 from The Bancroft Companies in South Bend up to $162,230 from HRP Construction Inc. also in South Bend.
Bids were taken under advisement.
The Board of Public Works also opened two quotes a new work truck for the Plymouth Water Department. Oliver Ford Lincoln offered a base bid of $30,510 for an F150. The trade in value for a 1999 Ford F250 Pickup was $650 bringing the net total to $29,860. The second quote from County Auto Center has a base bid of $29,375.55 for a half-ton pick-up truck. The trade in value for a 1999 Ford F250 was $800 bringing the net total to $28,575.55.
These quotes were also taken under advisement.
The final quotes opened were for a utility truck for the Waste Water Department. Oliver Ford was the only quote received. Base bid for a new 2019 F550 chassis equipped with an 11 foot dump bed was $67,541. The Waste Water Department will trade in a 1997 F350 dump truck of $3,500 bring the net amount to $64,041.
This quote was also taken under advisement and Utility Superintendent Donnie Davidson will make his recommendations at the next city meeting in May.
