NewsTuesday evening the Plymouth Board of Zoning Appeals heard the Special Exception request of Donald Fritz at 13291 5D Road in Plymouth.  Speaking for Fritz was his step-son Lonnie Stettler.

City Plan Consultant Ralph Booker told the board the variance is to permit poultry and goats on the property.  He also explained that the animals are already on the property.

Stettler said he has about 30 chickens and has had chickens for 3 years.  He also has 4 pigmy goats that have been there for just a year.  He said when he asked the city about animals he was told he lived in the country and when he spoke to the county they said he was under the city’s jurisdiction because he resides in the 2-mile zone.

Booker showed numerous pictures of the site with the BZA.  The animals are kept on the rear of the property.

Neighbors Lacy and Israel Wilcox sent a letter opposing the variance and said there is misuse of the property.

After a short discussion, the BZA approved a variance for a special use and limited the number of animals on the Donald Fritz property to what he currently has…30 chickens and 4 goats.

The vote was three for yes: Art Jacobs, Fred Webster and Mark Gidley and one abstention: Greg Compton.
