The Crossing School of Business & Entrepreneurship has opened an Entrepreneurial Training Center (ETC) in Marshall County to provide an opportunity for students who are struggling or who want the option to participate in hands-on job training. The Crossing offers:
– Small classes with a Teacher Student ratio of 1:10 allowing teachers to provide additional support to students who struggle in large classes or who require more one on one attention.
– Faith-based character education to guide students through the difficult situations and choices they face in order to equip them with a solid foundational belief system to guide them through life after high school.
– A hands on approach to job training which allows students to learn soft and hard skills that prepare them for their future career.
The Marshall County Entrepreneurial Center’s current enrollment is 30 students who spend half of their day in the classroom working on academics and the other half in their job training program. Job training currently consists of a student-run micro-business called Spark Candles and a work team through Headsight. Students participating in Spark Candles are in charge of all aspects of this business, including their P&L, candle making, sales, and marketing while students in the Headsight program work to prepare land for future development by removing weeds, trees and cleaning up the area.
The Crossing has a plan in motion to open a Satellite Location with a Marshall County business partner who will host a school within their building. The Crossing Satellite model provides students with academic instruction and job training within a local business. Their Job Training consists of students working side by side with employees of that business who are mentoring and providing on-the-job training for students to learn their trade.
