On Sunday, December 2nd, shortly before 3:00 AM, Marshall County Patrolman Wozniak witnessed a male subject walk from the west side of Oak Drive from the railroad tracks.  The male was carrying what appeared to be many bags. The officer witnessed the male subject walk to a parked vehicle in the open Dairy Queen parking lot which had all its lights off. The officer witnessed this vehicle turn the headlights on then left the area.

MugShot_jason goad 12-4-18A traffic stop was initiated in the area of Oakhill Avenue and Michigan Street. The passenger in the vehicle, 32 year old Jason L. Goad of Plymouth, initially gave a false name and was found to have an active warrant through St. Joseph County.

Plymouth Officers checked the area the male was witnessed walking from and found the storage facility had forced entry to one of the lockers. Inside the vehicle were bolt cutters, other entry devices, stolen items such as jewelry, clothing and personal belongings and two portable two-way radios. Goad admitted to breaking into the facility with the intent to steal some of the items. He was booked and processed at the Marshall County Jail for burglary, theft and false informing.

mugShot_jeremy goodrich 12-4-18The driver of the vehicle, 38 year old Jeremy J. Goodrich also of Plymouth, was interviewed and found to be involved in the crime. Goodrich was booked in the County Jail for assisting a criminal and conspiracy to commit burglary.

 

Listeners and readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
