Lancers claw back but fall short against South Central

UNION MILLS – Despite a 6-run deficit in the second inning, the LaVille baseball team almost came all the way back, eventually falling 8-6 to South Central on Tuesday.
The Lancers scored four runs in the failed comeback on a single by Isaiah Herbster in the third, a single by Robby Pope in the third and a single by Nick Moore in the seventh.
In the first inning, the Lancers got their offense started when Jimmy Fischer singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
LaVille put up four in the third inning. The offensive onslaught by the Lancers was led by Herbster, Pope, and Jake Martin, who all drove in runs.
Herbster took the loss for LaVille. He allowed two hits and seven runs over three innings, striking out two.
The Lancers scattered ten hits in the game. Reese Gallup and Fischer each collected multiple hits for the Lancers. Gallup went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead LaVille in hits.
LaVille’s record drops to 1-1 on the season. The Lancers are back in action on Thursday in their home opener against the Jimtown Jimmies. First pitch will be thrown at 5pm.
