Lions_Michelle LivinghouseMichelle Livinghouse, Plymouth, was nominated in a Caucus this week of Democratic Precinct Committee Chairs for Indiana State Representative, District 17.  District 17 is comprised of all Marshall County and parts of Fulton County: Aubbeenaubbee, Richland, Newcastle, Rochester and Henry townships.

Livinghouse is running for State Representative to be a voice for working families, public education, and fair and inclusive treatment of all Hoosiers.   Livinghouse stated today “I am concerned and frustrated by the legislature’s indifference, incompetence, and inaction on issues that affect Hoosiers; including the neglect of our schools, public health and safety, the inaction to address a hate crimes bill, fair and secure elections, the crisis In the Department of Child Services, and the needs of working Hoosiers trying to make ends meet. I am proud to be a Hoosier, we can and do better, and I am ready to help move Indiana in a new direction.”

Livinghouse first became interested in politics in 1964 when her mother sent her out to talk to the neighbors in an effort to poll their precinct and it will be this kind of grassroots campaign that she will take to the people of District 17.  She would later serve the same area, District 3 on the Plymouth City Council.  Livinghouse served on the Plymouth Water Board, the Plymouth Plan Commission, and the Marshall County Health Board.  Livinghouse has a special interest in our community’s families and children and served as a member of the Marshall County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) Board in which she served as President.  Livinghouse has volunteered for the last twelve years with the Plymouth FOP Shop with a Cop program.  Concerned about the quality of life issues that confront our community, in 2013 she assisted in forming an ad hoc group of Marshall County residents interested in bringing attention to the need for immigration reform.  This group is currently active and serves to promote tolerance, understanding, advocacy, and a sense of community.

Livinghouse has served as an Adult Protective Services Investigator for twenty years serving vulnerable adults. Livinghouse is married to Frank Filson. Together they have three children and an extended family of seven grandchildren.
