Stellar Communities logoOn April 19, 2018, Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch announced the Marshall County Crossroad initiative as one of the six regions as a finalist for the 2018 Stellar Communities Program.

Launched in 2011, Stellar Communities is a multi-year, multi-million- dollar investment initiative led by the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA). The program works with selected communities to establish partnerships with local and regional leaders and organizations, develop their strategic regional development plans, and implement transformative quality of place community improvements.

The 2018 Stellar Communities took a regional approach, focusing on collaboration among adjoining towns, cities, and counties.

“This regional approach will assist many communities at one-time rather than one city or town,” stated Mayor Mark Senter, City of Plymouth. “In Marshall County, we can send a very strong message because we are a close-knit community where all of our entities meet quarterly to discuss our various projects and economic development. Working to earn the Stellar designation will help each and every aspect of Marshall County.”

The Marshall County Crossroads Stellar Committee is comprised of representatives from Argos, Bremen, Bourbon, Culver, LaPaz, Plymouth and Marshall County and is co-chaired by Culver Town Council President Ginny Munroe and Marshall County Commissioner Kevin Overmyer.

The Committee is seeking public input about what is important to all businesses and residents. The survey is provided online at http://tiny.cc/MarshallCountyCrossroads and will take less than five minutes to fill out. Please fill out the survey by May 22nd.

“It's exciting to see our community leaders coming together and working collectively to make Marshall County an attractive place to live, work, and play. Also, this will have tremendous economic benefits for Northern Indiana,” said Commissioner Kevin Overmyer. “We are asking everyone in the County to take this survey because we want to hear from them on key areas that will help guide us throughout the Stellar Communities planning process.”
