GreenwayTrail_Phase2Monday evening, Plymouth Park Superintendent Mike Hite updated member of the Plymouth Park Board on the second phase of the Greenway Trail.

Hite said he met last week with Northern Indiana Construction (NIC) about the trail project.  Phase II of the trail is from East Jefferson Street through Gil Park, over the Yellow River to Garro Street.

Hite said construction on the second phase was to begin the first of October but the first contractor, hired by INDOT did not follow the exact instructions and was disqualified.  INDOT then hired NIC and they plan to begin construction right before Thanksgiving.

In other business, an agreement with The Troyer Group was presented to professional services for the kayak launch.  Hite said they have created a concept for the canoe/kayak launch but he doesn’t have any building specs.  Troyer has agreed to do a one-time contract for those services, not to exceed $5,000.

Hite explained that the drawings they will create are need for the bid process so the prospective construction companies understand what the project is.

The project will not be completed this fall, but will be done in the spring of 2019.

The Plymouth Park Board unanimously approved the agreement with The Troyer Group.
