Plymouth 12U shuts out Triton

PLYMOUTH – The Plymouth 12U used their red-hot bats and power pitching to defeat the Triton Trojans 11-0, in five innings on Wednesday night.
The Pilgrims used a six run sixth inning to bust open the game, allowing the pitching staff to shut down the Trojan hitters.
Jak Chaney earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for the Pilgrims. He tossed three innings, allowing no runs, on one hit, while striking out nine Trojans. Also pitching one scoreless inning apiece were Tre Jordan and Mason Bales. Combined the Pilgrims pitchers had a 71.4% strike-to-balls ratio, proving good pitching consistently beats good hitting.
“Our pitchers threw strikes,” commented Coach Nick Chaney. “All the guys got the ball over the plate and really overpowered them at times.”
The full offense was also on display as Plymouth racked up 13-hits on the evening. Chaney, Preston Wolfe, Caleb Bowling and Preston Jessen each collected multiple hits. Leading the way was Ryan Gadziola going 1-for-2 with a run and four RBI. Chaney and Bowling finished 2-for-2 with 2 RBI apiece. Preston Jessen chipped in one RBI and two runs with a 2-for-2 performance.
“We went to the plate with an aggressive mind-set,” concluded Chaney. “It’s something we talk about a lot. Go to the plate looking to compete on each pitch. We did that tonight.”
The Plymouth 12U, sponsored by Emergency Forklift Services, move to 4-2 on the season. The young Pilgrims are back at it again at 7pm on Saturday, traveling to Middlebury for a game against the Raiders.
