Plymouth bested by Eagles, Kingsmen

CULVER – Plymouth visited the super manicured Academy Course on Thursday night to face #5 Penn and host CMA. The Pilgrims fell to both squads, final team scores: Penn 152, CMA 164, Plymouth 180
Penn sprinted to a huge lead, with several of the Penn players in red figures a hole or two into the match before settling into near perfect territory. Grant Wargo lead Penn with an even par 36 for Medalist honors. The top three spots belonged to Penn.
Plymouth was led by Chapman Yoder who played right with his playing competitors for most of the night. Yoder took advantage birding two of the three par 5’s to card a 39. Chapman’s bid for eagle on #9 burned the edge, leading to his first birdie of the night. The ensuing hole he also made birdie to get back to even par before a poor tee shot on the par three #2 lead to a double-bogey.
Rounding out the scoring for Plymouth were, Bryce Carmichael 43, Owen Yoder 47, Andrew Himes 51, and Matthew Gerard 51.
Next up Saturday is Plymouth’s final regular season event, a makeup from week one, the Triton Invitational at Stonehenge in Warsaw.
“The guys look to see where their season-long progress stacks up against our IHSAA Regional course,” said Plymouth coach Ben Waymouth. “Both JV and Varsity will participate Saturday. JV guys are looking to finish with a strong showing.”
Plymouth is in sectional action Friday, June 1st at Rozella Ford.
