Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety Actions

May 28, 2018

City NEwsEarlier this month, Plymouth’s Utility Superintendent, Donny Davidson told members of the Board of Public Works and Safety that the annual water main flushing will begin June 4th.  He said it’s difficult to tell citizens exactly where we are working since the unidirectional flushing goes from the plant to the water towers first and then through the branching off water lines.  The water main flushing will last about a month and Davidson said the unidirectional systems only uses about half the water the old system used.

During that same meeting Plymouth’s Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt was granted approval to purchase a new Street Sweeper.  Best Equipment out of Indianapolis had the most affordable price at $190,185.  Marquardt said the street sweeper was in this 2018 budget and the Board of Works unanimously approved the purchase.

1000 West Madison QuintanaMarquardt also presented a sidewalk request from Kevin Quintana at 1,000 West Madison Street.  Marquardt reported that the side walk is mid block and is flat and only has cracks where the drive way crosses over it.  The street superintendent told the Board of Public Works, “It doesn’t fit into our plan and financially I think our current list of projects will use up our budget.”  The Board of Works approved not having city workers do the project.
