A local woman was seriously injured in a farming accident Tuesday afternoon. About 3:20 emergency crews were dispatched to Peach and 13th Roads where the call was that a woman had lost a limb in a combine.
Laurie Hayn was in a corn field when she was caught by one of the corn heads and pulled into the machine.
According to family members she lost an arm at the shoulder and a leg at the hip.
Plymouth Fire and Culver Paramedics worked to stop the bleeding at the scene and transported her to an open field on Olive Trail to allow Medflight to airlift her to the trauma center at Memorial Hospital in South Bend.
At 11 a.m. Wednesday there will be a prayer service on the east side of the Court House. Everyone is welcome to attend.
