potawatomi-Wildlife-Park_logoPotawatomi Wildlife Park was recently the beneficiary of their 2nd Eagle Scout Project for 2018. Kieran Fangman from Troop 572 of Granger built and installed two outdoor educational displays.

One outdoor display was installed on the astronomy observing field and the other on the trail overlooking the Tippecanoe River. The static outdoor displays are an important part of the park’s public educational outreach. The displays will eventually contain educational content for park visitors to read and learn from.

Many times, the content focuses on the area surrounding the display. For example, the new display in the observing field will feature astronomy, light pollution, and dark-sky related information to educate the reader about their immediate surroundings.

Potawatomi Wildlife Park has two other Eagle Scout projects scheduled for 2018 and has received inquiries about additional projects. Scouting has provided 21 Eagle Scout projects since its first in 1998 when Matt Ritenour of Troop 251 of Plymouth built and installed wood duck nesting boxes.
