Recycle Depot_WaterMarshall County Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) is excited to announce the installation of a raingarden at the Recycle Depot.  Michael Stauffer, local boy scout, approached Debbie Palmer, SWCD District Coordinator, about a raingarden installation as an Eagle Scout project.  Various sites were explored, and with the approval of Marianne Peters, Marshall County Solid Waste District Director, the Recycle Depot was selected.  “I am thrilled to partner with the SWCD and Boy Scouts to showcase a raingarden at the Recycle Depot.” says Peters.

The planning has taken several months as plant selection and design were researched.  Several scouts and leaders were on hand last weekend for the excavation phase of the project.  The next phase will include installation of plants and mulch.  An educational sign will be included as part of the project and dedication will take place on a future date.

Recycle Depot_Water_2Clean Water Indiana money, through a grant obtained by the Marshall County SWCD, was used to fund this project.
