Senator Randy Head 2018Through the Indiana Statewide 911 Board, Indiana is the only state where 911 operators can initiate texts after receiving a disconnected or dropped 911 call.

State Senator Randy Head said, “Indiana’s dispatch centers now receive an average of between 500 and 600 text-to-911 contacts every day, according to the Statewide 911 Board.”

The senator continued, “Last year, the centers in our state received approximately 11 million calls and nearly 14,500 inbound texts.”
