Disaster ReliefIn the wake of Hurricane Michael, the first Category 4 hurricane on record to make landfall in the Florida panhandle, Southwire’s Project GIFT is hosting a disaster relief collection Thursday, Oct. 18 and Friday, Oct. 19.

Volunteers will collect supplies from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Woodies Supermarket at 116 North Bowen Avenue in Bremen. According to representatives in the hardest hit counties in South Georgia, non-perishable food is in high demand.

Along with the need for ready-to-eat food Southwire volunteers will be collecting toiletries and cleaning supplies – particularly large contractor trash bags and paper products.

A list of items being collected include:  non-perishable food items with pop-lids such as canned soups, ravioli and tuna.  Bottled water, sports drinks and juice will be accepted, but please no pop.  Cleaning supplies are in high demand…like mops and brooms, gloves and dust masks.  Other items include paper products, personal hygiene products: shampoo, soup, deodorant, mouthwash and cleansing wipes.  New unwrapped blankets and ice chests and coolers will be collected.

Drop off your donations for Hurricane Michael victims at Woodies Supermarket on Thursday and Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the Southwire Disaster Relief Drive.
