NewsLast week during the Marshall County Commissioner’s meeting, they were asked to make an appointment to the new Koontz Lake Conservancy District Board.

Marshall County had one appointment to creating the board and the commissioners appointed Steve Giese.  Giese will serve for one year and then the board will begin filling seats through the election process.  The four other seats will be filled by Starke County residents.

According to their website, the mission of the Koontz Lake Conservancy District is to revitalize, enhance and protect the water quality of Koontz Lake.  The Conservancy is being formed to enhance the water quality of Koontz Lake by aggressive weed control as well as addressing other lake issues that are sure to arise in the future.
