Prison_SentenceDecember 13, proved to be a very busy and productive day in Marshall Superior Court No. 1, as several serious criminal cases ended with substantial sentences for the defendants.  The list is below:

Gunnar Vanhorn, 26, of Macy was sentenced on December 13, 2018 by Marshall County Superior Court 1 Judge Robert O. Bowen to thirteen years in the Indiana Department of Correction.  Vanhorn entered into a plea agreement with the State of Indiana by Chief Deputy Tami Napier and Vanhorn’s attorney, Christopher Berdahl.  The agreement called for only executed time to resolve his pending cases.  Vanhorn admitted to dealing methamphetamine on several occasions in 2017 and 2018 at various locations in Marshall County.

Robert Adams, 28, was sentenced on December 13, 2018 by Marshall County Superior Court 1 Judge Robert O. Bowen to four years in the Indiana Department of Correction followed by one year of reporting probation.  Adams and his attorney, Doug Hite, entered into an agreement with the State of Indiana by Chief Deputy Tami Napier to resolve his case wherein Adams participated in dealing methamphetamine in April of 2018 at a residence located within 150 feet of a school.

Alan Dilts, 19, of Culver was sentenced on December 13, 2018 by Marshall County Superior Court 1 Judge Robert O. Bowen to a nine year sentence, six of which will be served in the Indiana Department of Correction followed by three years of sex offender reporting probation.  Dilts and his attorney, Tom Black, entered into an agreement with the State of Indiana by Chief Deputy Tami Napier to resolve his case wherein Dilts had a sexual encounter with a 12 year old victim.  The incident occurred at the victim’s house on Maple Road in the summer of 2018 when Dilts was there at a social event.  Dilts engaged in sexual contact with the 12 year old victim and the victim provided the information to police when questioned.  Furthermore, Dilts admitted to the allegations stated by the victim.  The terms of the agreement were made in consultation with the victim and her parents.

Bill Hackworth, 38, of Warsaw was sentence on December 13, 2018 by Marshall County Superior Court 1 Judge Robert O. Bowen to eight years in the Indiana Department of Correction.  Hackworth and his attorney, Tom Black, entered into an agreement with the State of Indiana by Chief Deputy Tami Napier to resolve his case wherein Hackworth admitted to dealing cocaine in March of 2018.

Aaron Sneed, 26, of Bourbon was sentence on December 13, 2018 by Marshall County Superior Court 1 Judge Robert O. Bowen to sixteen and a half years in the Indiana Department of Correction.  Sneed and his attorney, Joe Simanski, entered into an agreement with the State of Indiana by Chief Deputy Tami Napier to resolve his pending cases wherein Sneed admitted to violating probation in a 2015 case, resisting law enforcement in 2016, Intimidation in 2018, Battery Resulting in Bodily Injury in 2018 and Dealing Methamphetamine in May of 2017.

Mark Matyas, 38, of Bremen was sentence on December 13, 2018 by Marshall County Superior Court 1 Judge Robert O. Bowen to eight years in the Indiana Department of Correction, seven of which will be executed and one suspended to probation.  Matyas and his attorneys, John Rulli and Tom Strickler, entered into an agreement with the State of Indiana by Chief Deputy Tami Napier to resolve his pending case wherein Matyas admitted to Dealing Methamphetamine in December of 2017.
