Culver Little Town on Lake MaxinkuckeeThe Town of Culver has announced a street naming contest for a new street leading to the Sand Hill Farm housing development!

The entry off Jefferson Street will be named Sand Hill Drive, but after the entryway, the street will come to a “t” and a street will be built extending to the northeast and providing the entrance to the first phase of Sand Hill Farm Apartments.  This section is currently without a name, and the Town of Culver would like to enlist residents, businesses owners, students, and regular visitors to Culver with help in naming this new street.

The rules are simple, one entry per person, and entries will be accepted in writing only by delivery to Town Hall at 200 East Washington Street, “Attention:  Street Contest”, or by email to townmanager@townofculver.org .  Submissions will be accepted until Wednesday, April 18th at 4:00 p.m.  All age groups are encouraged to submit a recommendation.

A committee comprised of Culver town staff, elected officials, and Culver residents will narrow the nominations down to a group of finalists, and the name will be chosen by popular vote in person and online at www.townofculver.org  with voting to close on Friday, May 4th at 4:00 p.m.

Here are a few things to consider before submitting an entry:

  • Currently we have Streets, Drives, Roads, Courts, Places, Parkways, and Lanes as suffixes in Culver.
  • Avoid names too similar to existing roadways.
  • Anything unique to Culver, our area, or local history is encouraged.
