United Way ANnual meeting 2018_1The United Way of Marshall County (UWMC) thanked those who help the organization meet un-met needs in the community at its annual awards event.Companies who ran successful United Way campaigns and individuals who contributed in various ways were gratefully honored at Plymouth Community Church on Thursday, April 26.

“United Way is more than fundraisers,” said Jeff Houin, UMWC President. “We are hand-raisers. Game-changers. When we Live United, we take on the most pressing challenges and issues around Marshall County. Our donors make amazing work possible. We are here today to honor their gifts – gifts that are building a brighter future for our residents and communities and supporting our 21 United Way member agencies!”

The top 10 companies in the 2017 United Way campaign:

6. Oliver Ford Lincoln

Top Per Capita honors were presented in various categories:

#1 Per Capita for County – Morrow Insurance Agency, Inc.

Faculty/Staff – Plymouth Community School Corporation

Professional – Morrow Insurance Agency, Inc.

Commercial/Retail – Mid-City Supply Company

Small Industry – U.S. Granules Corporation

Large Industry – American Containers, Inc.

Riverside Intermediate School Students were also recognized as the Top Student Givers for their fundraising activities to support United Way.

United Way supports the 2-1-1 information and referral service, FamilyWize Prescription discount cards, Project Lead the Way, the Marshall County Career Success Coalition, Kindergarten Countdown, and Marshall County Promise. Also noted was United Way’s immediate, strong and continuing support of the Marshall County Flood of 2018 relief efforts for flood survivors, the Marshall County Early Childhood Coalition and the Marshall County Food Council.
