February 28, 2018

Volunteer NeededHistoric flooding has deeply impacted Marshall County. Governor Eric Holcomb has implemented a Disaster Declaration for 22 counties in Indiana, including Marshall County. As people return to their homes and places of business to survey the damage, the long work of recovery begins.

It is quickly becoming apparent the vast scope of the needs of flood survivors as homes and businesses are surveyed for damage. On Saturday, March 3, Marshall County will come together for the first flood clean-up day.

In order to take part in the flood clean-up, please register and notify volunteer coordinators of your abilities and gifts by calling United Way’s 2-1-1 service (or toll-free 1-877-502-0700) or using the forms at bit.ly/ply-vol or http://www.myunitedway2-1- 1.org/.

Volunteers are asked to arrive at the Plymouth Fire Department at 111 N Center Street, Plymouth, for a kick-off rally, task assignment and send-off on Saturday, March 3, at 9 a.m. The flood clean-up day will last from 9-2. Limited child care will be provided free of charge only to registered volunteers. Lunch and snacks will be provided to volunteers during the day. Many local businesses and churches are graciously donating their services to help make this volunteer support possible.

Volunteers are asked to wear clothes you can throw out after the clean-up day is over. Proper boots are essential.
