Walorski_Plymouth Flood 2-22-18U.S. Representative Jackie Walorski (R-Ind.) Thursday toured flood damage in Elkhart, Goshen, South Bend, and Plymouth, met with local mayors, and spoke by phone with state and federal emergency management officials.

“The flooding across northern Indiana is a serious hazard in our communities that will leave significant damage behind, as I saw up close today,” Congresswoman Walorski said. “I’m grateful to our first responders for helping all the Hoosiers affected, and I will remain in contact with our local leaders, as well as state and federal officials, as relief and cleanup efforts continue. I urge Hoosiers to stay safe and to report any uninsured damage to the Indiana Department of Homeland Security.”

Walorski viewed flood damage with Plymouth Mayor Mark Senter, South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Elkhart Mayor Tim Neese, and Goshen Mayor Jeremy Stutsman. She also received updates from Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS) Executive Director Bryan Langley and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Region V Director James Joseph.

Officials recommend residents document any flood damage in order to file insurance claims and submit reports to state and local agencies. Any uninsured damage to homes, businesses, and other buildings or property should be reported to IDHS to ensure all appropriate resources are made available to aid recovery. Damage reports can be submitted here.
