“It was an honor to visit with service members around our state today who play an indispensable role in protecting our country. I will continue to do everything I can to ensure they have the resources they need to accomplish their missions,” said Senator Young. “I am grateful to Major General Carr for making this visit possible and to each of these outstanding units for hosting me.”

Senator Young is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and served in the Marine Corps. He now serves on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. The Senate is currently considering the Fiscal Year 2019 National Defense Authorization Act, which includes several provisions that Senator Young worked successfully to include.

Since arriving in the Senate, Young has continued to actively and effectively advocate for Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center and the Indiana National Guard. Last year, Young led efforts to bring the Commandant of the Marine Corps to Crane for the first time in Crane’s history. He also helped lead efforts to bring the Chief of Staff of the Air Force to Crane. Senator Young’s visits Friday to the three bases follow his visit to the Indiana National Guard headquarters on February 2, as well as his November visit with Indiana National Guard members serving at Fort Meade.
