Utility Superintendent Donnie Davidson was granted approval to solicit quotes for a new maintenance truck with a service box.  Davidson said the vehicle purchase is in his 2019 budget.

The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety was agreeable to having the Plymouth Street Department hang the banners over North Michigan Street.  City Attorney Sean Surrisi said that REMC doesn’t want the responsibility of hanging the banners across the road any more so the city was approached.

Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt told the Board of Works said the city use to do it.  He said it takes about an hour and four employees.

Mayor Senter said the Blueberry Festival will continue to handle the scheduling for the banners and making sure the state permits are acquired.

The Board also approved the request of Heartland Artists to close Michigan Street between LaPorte and Washington Streets for the annual Art InThe Street event on Saturday, June 22nd.  Anna Keitzman said the event is growing and they believe they will need the second block this year to accommodate the increased number of art booths along with the live music, dancers, kids activities and beer and wine tent.
