Minor Injuries in US 30 Crash Saturday Afternoon

Crash_US30_Union_1Officer Matt Brown with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department investigated a crash on US 30, west of Union Road on Saturday, September 14th about 5:45 in the afternoon. 

Kelly Skinner, was traveling east on US 30 west of Union Road in a 2007 Mercury Grand Marquis when her vehicle traveled partially onto the shoulder of the roadway and struck the rear of a semi trailer. The semi truck and trailer were off the traveled portion of the roadway and completely on the shoulder.

Crash_US30_Union_2Witnesses told Officer Brown they observed the passenger vehicle veer off the roadway and strike the semi trailer at full highway speed and never touched the brakes.

Kelly Skinner told police she had looked down to read her phone and never saw the semi trailer.

The vehicle sustained extensive damage but the driver was able to exited the vehicle under her own power and waited for first responders on the side of the roadway. She sustained minor injuries and was transported by EMS to a medivac helicopter that transported her to the trauma center for precautionary treatment.

Crash_US30_Union_3No one else was hurt in the collision.
