Mother Nature closed several other tracks but Plymouth Speedway was ready and very racy and benefited with large car counts. The Super Streets had the week off but will be back to race this Saturday in the biggest Super Street race in the area if not the nation. With a $11,109 pay day for the winner and $500 to start the feature Super Street racers from all over will be in Plymouth Friday and Saturday.

Friday night Thunder Stocks will be racing for a good $1,109 check to the winner and will be supported on the racing bill by the Non-Wing 600s and an appearance by the mini-stocks. Super Streets will be practicing only on Friday.

Saturday is the big night with the ILVDirt Throwdown at the Playground for Super Street. CSR Sprints and UMP Modifieds will also be on the track.

The UMP Modifieds race was like night and day from the previous week. 32 UMP Modifieds signed in with the top 20 taking the green flag on the A feature including 5 that transferred from the B feature.

PSW_ToddSherman_7-6-19Todd Sherman started on the pole with Derek Losh on the front row with him. Sherman carried a lot of speed into turn one sliding up in front of Losh and was able to stay that for most of the first half of the race. Zeke McKenzie was close behind in third with Frank Marshall and Jamie Lomax not far behind that. Marshall’s car broke bringing out the yellow and Losh was able to grab the lead not long after the restart. Losh was on his way putting some room between himself and McKenzie and Sherman. When a car spun in turn four that Losh was preparing to but a lap down, Losh was forced up into the wall and his night was over.

Mckenzie would take the green infront of Sherman and Lomax and a couple laps later would pull into the infield with an engine that was going south. Sherman was back in the lead with Lomax and hard charging Bradley Jameson in tow. Jameson would get around Lomax as the laps ran out. Jameson would also collect the hard charger moving up from his 11th starting position to finish 2nd. With Losh, Marshall and McKenzie all collecting a DNF the points didn’t really change.

Thunder Stocks were the only full fender cars on the track Saturday and they put them to good use to move some competitors. RJ Akers would start on the front row and didn’t waste any time jumping to the lead. Trevor Bitterling started on the pole and ran in second with Preston Oberle on his hip for the most of the race. Oberle was just slightly quicker than Bitterling in that particular line on the track but just wasn’t able to move Bitterling or find a spot to get past. Lee Hall started sixth moved up to fourth and was able to get some traction up high and able to get past both Bitterling and Oberle who raced him clean as they went three wide. Persistence paid off for Oberle as he was able to get below Bitterling and moved past him.

Shane Sanders shared the Hard Charger with Chris Joseph both moving up six spots to finish 9th and 10th. Joseph won the B feature to get to the A so he might get the nod.

These Thundercar drivers will be back this Friday night racing for a large purse. These racers will be working overtime to get their cars buttoned up and the fenders straightened out to race.

PSW_ChadHartzel_7-6-19The non-wing 600 Micro Sprints had 21 cars take the green flag with Bruce Clay on the pole, Ed Cleveland on the front row. And that is how they finished, but from third on back they shuffled and traded spots. Chad Hartzell started sixth moved to third with Jacob Ruppe close on his quarter. On the final lap coming to the line out of turn four there was a lapped car in front of Hartzell and Ruppe to his immediate left. Ruppe was able to get a wheel out front and keep Hartzell off the podium.

PSW_EricSaunders7-6-19Seven CSR Winged Sprint cars lined up for the feature with Andrew Cockman on the pole and Kyle Gunkel on the front row with him. It wouldn’t work out for either. Eli Lakin started third and Eric Saunders started fourth. The first several laps had good wheel to wheel racing amongst the top three with Saunders just pacing them in fourth. Once they got sorted Saunders started moving to the front. Gunkel would lose a wheel and back it into the wall. Saunders would hold off Lakin on the restart Gurley would move up to third.

The 600s will be racing on Friday this week with the Thunder Stocks and the Mini stocks. The CSR Sprints will be part of the big Saturday night show with the Super Street and UMP Modifieds. Friday night tickets are $13 for adults with kids 6-12 $5 and race fans under five are free. Saturday Adults are $20 with kids unchanged. There is a 2 day general admission ticket for $30. Gates open at 4 p.m., Hot Laps at 6 p.m. with racing beginning at 7 p.m. both nights.

If you can’t make it to this two night special, Plymouth Speedway has another next week also. The Indiana Sprint Week makes its return to the Plymouth Speedway Friday night with the non-wing 600s sharing the track with the USAC 410 non-wing Sprints. Adult general admission is $25 with Reserved Tickets $30 and kids 12 and under free.

Saturday will be Christmas in July with UMP Modifieds, CSR Sprints, Super Streets and Thunder Stocks. The track will be raising money for the annual Shop With a Cop.
