Young Supports Measures to Protect Innocent Life

February 25, 2019

Senator Todd Young 1-5-18Monday, U.S. Senator Todd Young (R-Ind.) voiced support for new U.S. Department of Health and Human Services regulations that will prevent Title X family planning funds from being used in a location where abortion activities are performed. Senator Young was among 41 senators and 153 representatives who sent a letter asking the Trump Administration to take this action.

“As cruel abortion practices are being pushed in states like New York and Virginia, we at the federal level are moving away from such atrocities,” Senator Young said. “This rule will ensure family planning funds are not being used to subsidize abortion procedures.”

Under the rule, Title X funds are not being reduced. Instead, they will be steered toward facilities that provide women’s healthcare but do not perform abortions.

Later today, the Senate will also vote again on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which Democrats blocked earlier this month. Senator Young has vocalized his support for pro-life measures, including the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act that he is a cosponsor of.

“In light of the barbaric and widely condemned state-level efforts in New York and Virginia to legalize abortion up until the moment of delivery, we need to ensure that all newborns receive appropriate care and medical treatment. The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act bans the horrific act of infanticide by ensuring that babies who survive attempted abortions have the chance at life that they deserve,” Senator Young said.
