Shop With A cop logo Shoping CartThe 10th annual Shop With a Cop Radio Auction on WTCA kicks off this Friday morning at 8 a.m.  This is the main fundraiser for a program that works to brighten the holiday season for so many.

Since 1995, Plymouth Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 195 has been conducting their annual Shop With A Cop program in Marshall County.  This year the FOP plans to take 150 to 175 children shopping for warm winter clothing, hats, boots and mittens, other things that they may need and of course, a toy. The program also provides 80 senior citizens from Real Services with gift cards for food or medicine and they provide a couple gifts to nearly two dozen clients from Marshall Starke Development Center who don’t have families.

This year’s radio auction features over 500 items.  The auctions are divided up into half hour segments and will have 12 to 18 items in each segment.  You’ll find Christmas decorations, jewelry, food items, gift certificates for oil changes, dining out, a septic pump, massages and more.

Oliver Ford Lincoln has again stepped up to the plate to help with a 2008 Ford Explorer, four door, four wheel drive, XLT with leather seats, a sunroof and third row seating.  It’s a one owner with just over 200,000 miles.  There is a reserve on the vehicle because we share the proceeds with Oliver Ford.

Also on the all-day board is a 2002 Honda Civic, 4 door with 246,000 miles. Peewee Warren from Lyon’s Wrecker Service in Plymouth has donated this vehicle to the auction and all the funds from its sale will go towards the 2019 Shop With A Cop program.

You can see the items on the WTCA website at am1050.com.  Scroll down just a little and on the left hand side there is a Santa pushing a shopping cart.  Click on the link and it will take you to the FOP page.  On the upper right hand corner there’s a link to the half hour auction blocks.  You can click on the description to see a photo of the item.

If you plan to bid on any of the auction items we ask that you call the radio station at 936-4096 today and get your bid number.  Friday morning things will be very busy  with people bidding and it will make things easier for our volunteers.

Anyone seeking assistance from the Shop With A Cop program must complete an application and return it by 4 p.m. this Friday, December 6th.  Applications are available here in the WTCA studios at 112 West Washington Street or at any of the elementary schools in Marshall County.  You can return it to the school or here at WTCA.
