County News # 1Ty Adley County Plan Director and Chuck DeWitt the County Building Inspector presented members of the Marshall County Council with the 2018 Annual Report.

Adley told the council, while the number of improvement location permits issued were down from a 15 year high of 815 in 2017 to 749 in 2018 the overall trend during the last few years, is still upward.  Adley said, “Although there was a slight dip in the number of permits, the valuation of those permits has raised yet again from $53,529,793 in 2017 to $68,419,914 in 2018, a 28 percent increase which significantly greater than the $25,984,098 from 2016.”

Adley said the Board of Zoning Appeals heard 49 cases in 2018 versus 46 in 2017.  There were a total of 9 Special Use variances sought, 33 Variances of Development Standard and 4 Variances of Use requests.

Last year the County Plan Commission heard 11 cases in 2018 versus 24 the prior year.  There was 1 vacation request, 5 minor plats, 2 zoning amendments a single waiver and 2 plan approvals.

The violations report showed 9 new cases in 2018 with 25 active cases.  Adley said there are approximately 12 additional cases that have not been opened with Notice of Violations sent to their respective property owners until such time the active cases are reduced and under proper management and follow-up completed. He said the main volume are waste and debris on property.
