Plymouth Community SchoolsThis morning the Plymouth Community School Corporation placed four schools on a lockout.  This means that classes continue as normal within the building; however, access into or out of the building is screened by law enforcement or administrators.  The four schools were Jefferson, Riverside, Lincoln, and PHS.  No school was on an actual lockdown.

PSCS Superintendent Andy Hartley said, “The reason for the lockout was that the Plymouth Police Department received a call from a citizen stating that a person was on Columbus Drive walking with a possible gun. The incident was immediately investigated by officers with the Plymouth Police Department.”

The person was located and no weapon was involved.

Hartley said, “After the situation was deemed safe by the police, the lockout was lifted.”

The superintendent closed his statement saying, “We appreciate the efforts of the Plymouth Police Department to keep our community and schools safe and ensuring we were aware of the situation so we could take the precautionary step to place the nearby schools in a lockout until they were able to determine the situation was safe.”
