Ancilla College_we believe in youAncilla College is now accepting applications for this summer’s Student Orientation and Academic Readiness (SOAR) program which will take place from July 7th to the 19th on the Ancilla College campus.

The SOAR Program is a college readiness program designed for upcoming high school juniors and seniors.  This program will allow them to briefly experience the college climate as a means to begin developing skills essential for success in a higher education institution.  While in the program, students will live and eat on campus.  They will also attend a 2-credit Freshman Seminar class that is transferrable to several Indiana colleges and universities, including Ancilla. A sampler of more specialized classes will allow students to get a feel for how other subjects are handled and get an introduction to the varying teaching styles of college professors. Events will also be attended that will give the students time to interact and get a taste for college life.

“There is definitely a shift in culture from high school to college,” said program director Kristen Robson. “Living away from home, having a different academic schedule, and learning to employ more time-management skills can all be hurdles. We are hoping this program eases the transition into college life for the students.”
