Argos kicks past #3 Bethany Christian
ARGOS — It could technically be called an upset but with two ranked teams doing battle it was the #7 ranked Argos Lady Dragons taking a shut out win over #3 Bethany Christian.
A first half of physical play ended in a scoreless deadlock 0-0 with the Lady Dragons gaining an advantage. Just before the end of the first half a Bethany Christian player would receive a red card leaving the Bruins down a player for the rest of the match.
The second half was similar to the first with Argos putting significant pressure on the Bruins.
Finally in the 42nd minute Argos would break the silence when Emma Dunlap laid a perfect pass across the middle of the box for Madi VanDerWeele who found the back of the net.
Moments later in the Dragons would go on with a cross from Bella Stults where Senior Amani Gonzalez would bury the ball to propel the Dragons on Senior Night to victory.
The Dragons had 11 shots on frame compared to the Bruins three.
The win insures that the Dragons gain a three way tie for the conference title with Culver Academy and Bethany Christian.
The Dragons next game is against Bremen in the IHSAA Sectionals Thursday at Argos.
