burglaryOn Sunday, August 18th, Bourbon Police Officer Matt Geiger received an alarm call at the Bourbon Liquor Store. A witness saw two men in a black truck leave the store westbound on Lincoln Highway.

Officer Geiger located the vehicle on Lincoln Highway at Fir Road. A traffic stop was initiated and the truck continued but came to a quick stop and a white male fled south from the vehicle. The other male occupant then drove off in the truck, which was stolen out of Michigan, and a vehicle pursuit ensued.

Marshall County Officers had set up stop sticks in the area of Iris Road and to the west of Iris road. The truck had hit the stop sticks and went off the road a short time later. The vehicle was then stopped after it almost ran into a Plymouth City patrol car and the driver was taken into custody.

The driver identified as Laydon Nathaniel Butler Umanos with a Ft. Wayne address was taken for jail clearance at Plymouth Hospital and then booked into the Marshall County Jail on preliminary charges of Burglary, Resisting arrest, Theft (vehicle) and criminal recklessness. He was given a court date of August 27th 2019 in Marshall County Superior Court 1.

Police are searching for anyone who may have knowledge of who Mr. Umanos was with that night.  If so, please call the Bourbon Police Department 574-342-3105 or The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department at 574-936-3187.    Mr. Umanos and his accomplice also burglarized the Bourbon Country Church at SR331 and 9B Road. Any assistance from the public is greatly appreciated.
