Mayor Senter would like to take this opportunity to remind citizens about the local ordinances regarding the use of fireworks. During the upcoming holiday, fireworks are a fun part of the celebration. But there are rules that need to be followed for everyone’s safety. Please use caution when using fireworks and be courteous of your neighbors.
The city ordinance says consumer fireworks may not be used, ignited, or discharged within the corporate limits of the City of Plymouth except during the following times: Between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 2 hours after sunset on June 29, June 30, July 1, July 2, July 3, July 5, July 6, July 7, July 8 and July 9 and between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 midnight on July 4.
City ordinance limits the sale of consumer fireworks to individuals 18 year or older. Persons less than 18 years of age shall only possess or use fireworks when an adult is present to supervise.
Consumer fireworks shall exclusively be used only on the user’s property; or
the property of someone who has consented to the use of fireworks on their property; or a location authorized by special permit.
If any person, entity, or organization found in violation of the city ordinance shall be subject to a fine of $100 per violation. Each day of such unlawful activity as is prohibited herein shall be deemed a separate offense.
