deontae_craigCULVER – Last night during CMA Basketball’s regular-season opener against Indianapolis Homeschool, senior forward Deontae Craig became the eighth player in program history to reach the 1,000 career point mark. CMA defeated the Indianapolis Home School Wildcats 69-54.

Craig joins a shortlist of names that includes: Mitch Henderson ’94 (1,284), Jackson Atoyebi ’01 (1,431), Juwan Brescacin ’11 (1,006), Jermaine Myers ’12 (1,154), Ignas Masiulionis ’17 (1,029), current Boston University Terrier Ethan Brittain-Watts ’19 (1,375), and current CMA teammate and Indiana University Basketball signee Trey Galloway ’20.

The Iowa Football commit had 12 total points on the night, including five field-goals made and two free-throws, which puts him at exactly 1,000 for his career.

“Deontae is a special dual-sport athlete,” remarked Head Coach Mark Galloway. “For him to produce as he has in the state of Indiana and at the level of competition we face is an amazing accomplishment.”

Craig was a member of the 2017-18 IHSAA 3A State Championship team, which he helped to lead as a sophomore. Most recently, Craig was selected as an IndyStar Indiana Junior All-Star and is an early candidate to be chosen as a 2019-20 Indiana All-Star.
