Lampon SeriesAncilla College will host its next Lampen Lecture discussion on Wednesday, February 20th at 12:45 p.m. (EST) in the Hardesty Room. This month’s lecture will present the ecological artistry of Anthony Schumann. The Lampen Lectures are free of charge, last about 45 minutes, and the general public is encouraged to attend.

Anthony Schumann is a sculptor and ceramicist, from Angola, Indiana. He received his Associates of Science from Vincennes University in 2013, and two Bachelor’s degrees of fine Arts, one in Sculpture and one in Ceramics from Herron School of Art & Design in 2016. Much of his work consists of recyclable materials to make connections to the natural world and raises awareness about pollution, mass consumption and the waste humans produce.

The Lampen Lectures at Ancilla College are designed to bring new ideas to the community but also works with groups within the community to shed light on topics that matter the most. The Lampen Lecture series was designed to combine the universality of the Catholic Church, the international character of the PHJC, and the Earth Charter, which is a declaration of fundamental principles for building a just, sustainable, and peaceful global society. Named for Sr. Joel Lampen, Ancilla’s first president, the Lampen Lecture series was initiated by Sr. Carleen Wrasman in 2005. These lectures are sponsored by the college and the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ.
