sobrietyTroopers with the Indiana State Police Bremen Post will be partnering with local law enforcement in Kosciusko County by conducting a sobriety checkpoint at an undisclosed location in Kosciusko County this Friday night, August 30, from 10:00 p.m. until 12:00 a.m. This checkpoint is part of the Drive Sober Or Get Pulled Over campaign that has been in effect since August 5 and concludes on September 2. Drivers that encounter this checkpoint are asked to have their driver’s licenses and registrations available for troopers. Time spent at the checkpoint will be minimal.

The purpose of sobriety checkpoints is to remove drivers that are under the influence of drugs or alcohol and pose a risk to others on the roadways. Impaired drivers cause billions of dollars in property damage, personal injury, and death annually.

Please observe the following tips:

  • Use a designated driver
  • Don’t get behind the wheel if you have been drinking. Call a taxi, friend, or family member that has not been drinking.
  • If you are hosting a party, offer non-alcoholic drinks as an option
  • Don’t let friends drive drunk. Offer to get them a ride or spend the night.

If you see a possibly impaired driver, call 911 and be prepared to give a location, direction of travel, and vehicle description.
