Marshall County Central Dispatch received an emergency call regarding individual needing assistance on Monday night just before 11. Secondary reports were then received of a fire at the location in the 12,000 block of 14th Road.
Officers from the Marshall County Police Department were dispatched to the scene along with Plymouth and Argos Fire Departments. Arriving on the scene, a fire was located in and near a barn and while conducting a search of the area, a worker was found deceased near the location of the fire.
The initial investigation at the scene leads investigators to believed the incident is a workplace accident that resulted in the death of 22 year old David Chavez Fajardo of Logansport.
An investigator from the Indiana State Fire Marshall`s Office was summoned to the scene, along with fire investigators from both Argos and Plymouth Fire Departments. The exact cause of the fire is still unknown, but an LP tank that was believed to have been damaged early in the incident is believed to be involved in at least part of the cause. The investigation is continuing.
