New Prairie edges Plymouth swimmers

NEW CARLISLE — In the first boys and girls dual swim meet of the season for Plymouth the home team New Prairie snuck away with the victory, but it was a solid showing for the Plymouth Pilgrims.
Highlights included a down to the wire finish in the final event for the girls.
In the 400 Free relay, Rachel Jacobs entered the pool as the 3rd swimmer trailing by 8.25 seconds. She was able to cut the deficit to 2.5 seconds to give Graci Holm a chance at snagging the victory. Holm battled the New Prairie anchor trying to get the best of the Cougars. As the swimmers finished, most had to check the clock to actually see who won. New Prairie held on by just .28 seconds winning with a time of 4:19.86.
Plymouth still had a great deal to be proud of as three of the four Plymouth swimmers swam best times on the season in that particular event.
Overall, New Prairie got the victory with a score of 107-73.
Plymouth will begin conference competition on Thursday by traveling to Northridge for a double dual meet against Goshen and Northridge. Diving will be first beginning at 5:30 p.m.
