Snow expected to begin Friday night and continue into Saturday night ***PRELIMINARY*** snow amounts predicted to be between 4-6 in., but amounts could change and higher amounts are possible
Strong northeast winds of 20-25 mph will cause blowing and drifting along with poor visibility.
Wind chill values will drop below zero Saturday night and temperatures will remain well below normal
The system snow will be followed by a dominant lake effect snow band that may set up over far northwest Indiana (potentially Laporte and Starke county) increasing snow totals and impacting visibility.
We are currently under an “Advisory” level travel advisory, which is lowest level of advisory.
I have made contact with Red Cross and they are prepared to pre-establish a shelter if local officials determine that would be beneficial.
