PHS_2019_NSPA HONOR ROLLFive Plymouth High School students have made the 2019 list for the National Scholastic Press Association honor roll for their journalism work in the Student Media class taught by Amy Schmeltz.

The NSPA Honor Roll of Student Journalists honors students across the country who have worked on an NSPA member publication for two or more years all while maintaining a GPA of at least 3.5. Plymouth High School is among three Indiana high schools across the state with students recognized by the NSPA for this achievement. Twenty-one Hoosier students made the 2019 NSPA Honor Roll of Student Journalists.

Schmeltz nominated juniors Helen Chen, Jessika Cuatlacuatl, Bohannon Meadors, Alexa Orozco, and senior Nicole Keller for the honor.

Chen’s and Cuatlacuatl’s work stems primarily from the PHS 2018-2019 yearbook, The Mayflower, while Keller’s, Meadors’s and Orozco’s work for the past two years is on, Ye Pilgrim, a monthly online digital PHS publication.

“I am proud of our Ye Pilgrim and The Mayflower editors for all of the hard work they put into their publications. They are truly remarkable students who manage deadline pressure, challenging courses, and busy extracurricular schedules. Ye Pilgrim and The Mayflower have been NSPA member publications since 2009, and I have been nominating students since that time as well,” said Schmeltz.
