400 East Jefferson_3Plymouth Building Commissioner, Keith Hammonds was asked by Mayor Pro Tempore Don Ecker during this week’s Board of Public Works and Safety meeting if there had been any response following the last meeting’s action to move forward with demolition of the Clark Station property at 400 East Jefferson Street.

Hammonds said he, the city attorney, city engineer and utility superintendent met at the site this week to determine what needs to be demolished.  City Attorney Sean Surrisi said he should have the specifications written next week.  Once completed it will be sent to companies who do demolition work for a quote that will probably be accepted during the second meeting in September.

881 Broadway_2Councilman Duane Culp asked for an update on 881 Broadway.  This apartment building is currently owned by Brent Martin of Plymouth and a man in Florida.  The city has ordered the two owners to come to some sort of agreement by September 9th or the city will begin the demolition proceedings.

The City Attorney said he’s been in touch with Martin’s attorney who sent a proposal to the man in Florida to purchase the building but they haven’t received a response yet and the city has had no response from the Florida owner either.

Surrisi said if an agreement can’t be reached they will begin the process to seek quotes for demolition.
