The Plymouth girls golf team opened NLC play Tuesday evening at Meadow Valley Golf Club in Middlebury.  The host Raiders from Northridge played flawlessly firing a 166.  Braedyn O’Dell of Northridge took home Medalist honors with a 38; teammate Ashley Brewster 39 was close behind.

Northridge 166
Concord 189
Plymouth 198

Annastasia Hutchings continued her fine play from the weekend to lead the Pilgrims with a 43.  Anna’s round featured a team-best 15 putts; 6 of her 9 holes were one-putt greens.  Anna’s 43 ties her career-best from early in the season.  Olivia Horvath 49 tied her season-best leading the team with greens in regulation and tied for the top mark, fairways off the tee.
Three freshmen also turned in career-best numbers tonight:
Claire McDonald 54
Elaina McDonald 54
Denice Guillot 62
I’m proud of the progress all the girls are making, especially our freshmen group.  Putting has been an emphasis this week, our work proved fruitful tonight.  Our young players are starting to see themselves make better contact and string together more consecutive quality shots.
Tonight was a confidence gain as we met the goal of getting under 200.  The girls competed against older more experienced players and hung in there.  We need to continue that trend as our next NLC contest is Thursday evening at Maplecrest with Goshen and Elkhart Memorial.
The NLC is quite stout this season!  Two of the eight teams (Northwood & Northridge) were participants in the elite state finals preview tournament a week ago.  Northwood is currently ranked 7th with Northridge just outside the top 20, earning honorable mention this week.  In the second tier, Concord, Warsaw, and Wawasee are very balanced with one another.  Our match Thursday will go a long way in determining the conference pecking order in the third tier of squads.
